New free EP out now!

February 12, 2011

Hot on the heels of last weeks release of Billy & The Fingers 6th album, Goodbye Chesterfield Road, comes a brand new EP featuring 4 new Fingers classics.

The Fingers have recently relocated to Gore Park Road and these four tracks are the results of the first sessions at our new home.  We are so excited about these four songs that we have decided to break our “album every 10 songs” rule as we couldn’t wait to get them out there.

The Soft Focus Group EP is perhaps the best run of songs we have produced so far with opener You’re Not Even Close being perhaps my own all time favourite Fingers song.  The EP features guest vocals from old friends Dan Boyle & Disco Stu Wylie on the track Somersaults.  Dan also contributes piano and harmonica to Somersaults.

The EP can be downloaded for free at soundcloud or here

I knocked this together yesterday using old footage and photos from recording and drinking sessions found on various cameras, phones and video cameras.

Goodbye Chesterfield Road available now

February 7, 2011

Billy & The Fingers 6th album “Goodbye Chesterfield Road” is now available.  The title is a tribute to the street it was recorded in as lead singer Neil has now moved from there to a new house.  The cover features England’s (and indeed World’s) former oldest man, Henry Allingham, who was also a one time resident of Chesterfield Road.

Goodbye Chesterfield Road features the usual Fingers eclecticism from Dr John inspired jazzisms, to Bowie-esque torch songs and Tom Petty style rockers.  Album 7 is already well under way and will be available in a couple of months.

As well as streaming and downloading from soundcloud you can also download Goodbye Chesterfield Road here.

Branded is probably Billy & The Fingers most eclectic work to date which sees the Fingers becoming more adventurous with each release.  Work is also well under way on album 6!

The 10 track album features guest appearances from Dan Boyle (co-write and backing vocals on Ice Pack) and Disco Stu Wylie (backing vocals on Just Because You Can).

New Songs

July 11, 2010

A couple of new Fingers tracks uploaded over the last couple of days.

  1. Just Because You Can – stripped down one take (except backing vocals) country magic.
  2. Flicker & Fade – first fruits of recording using Ableton Live.  An experiment in ambient electronic sound and epic Fingers songwriting.
